A typical Saturday at Jollibee  Dapitan, where Dr. Leonid  Zamora gave a lecture on stratifying lupus patients on the molecular level. It was indeed a fruitful morning spearheaded by no less than the section chairman of UST Hospital Section of Rheumatology Dr. Sandra V. Navarra and attended by several consultants and trainees.

Another outstanding event by the People Empowerment for Arthritis and  (PEARL) last Sunday, March 5, 2017 at St. Luke’s Medical Center, E. Rodriguez, Quezon City was heralded by the key motivator and mentor, Dr. Sandra Navarra. PEARL was set up by RETFI through the dedicated partnership of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) Sections of Rheumatology.

University of Santo Tomas (UST) Rheumatology decided to organize a forum on the benefits of being vegetarian, featuring a lecture on EATING HEALTHY by UST rheumatology fellow, Dr. Vivian D. Santos.

What a fruitful 2015 for PEARL and LUISA!

Through this social event, the kids and their respective families are able to inspire and in a way show that they’re still just like normal people despite afflictions.

There were 146 participants: 55 SLE, 40 Rheumatoid arthritis and 50 caregivers. A lively & dynamic “Living Well” conversations was also conducted among the patients and caregivers.

The Section provided support to Leonid Zamora, MD for a 1 month observership at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston from November 16 to December 15, 2015.

For the year 2015-2016, Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), located in Houston, Texas, was voted as one of the best children’s hospitals in the United States.
