With every step of your journey, we care.
Our mission is to provide the highest standard of care for rheumatic disease patients, the public and the medical community through pursuit of excellence in EDUCATION and RESEARCH.
LUISA (LUpus InSpired Advocacy) Project
The LUISA (LUpus InSpired Advocacy) Project, was set up by Rheumatology Educational Trust Foundation, Inc. (RETFI) to develop, promote, and support a robust and dynamic national lupus RESEARCH agenda by establishing and maintaining the Filipino Lupus Registry, and pursuing studies to better define the role of genetic, environmental and socio-cultural factors in lupus disease expression.
The LUISA Project also seeks to enhance physician and patient EDUCATION, through:
- The lupus websites www.lupus.ph or www.luisaproject.org
- Self-help programs for patients and caregivers
- Educational grants for physicians
- Establishing alliances with world experts in lupus
Presidential Proclamation No. 1435 declaring the first week of every February as Lupus Advocacy Week, was approved through the efforts of the LUISA Project.
RETFI (Rheumatology Educational Trust Foundation, Inc.)
The Rheumatology Educational Trust Foundation, Inc. (RETFI) is a non-stock, non-profit organization, committed to providing the highest standard of care for rheumatic disease patients through pursuit of excellence in EDUCATION and RESEARCH. In addition to the LUISA Project, RETFI develops and strengthens physician- and patient-centered projects in arthritis and other rheumatic conditions through:

- Local and international collaborative efforts in arthritis research
In October 2009, RETFI has been evaluated and duly certified by the Philippine Council for Non-governmental organization Certification (PCNC) as a donee institution, providing tax-exemption for all donations to RETFI.
PEARL (People Empowerment for Arthritis and Lupus)
Quarterly PEARL is an important event; as these patients strengthen their support group, share new stories, mingle, chat and bond even for a short period of time.
